The old is gone and in with the new! Today we're introducing an entirely new name convention (well, it's been a while since we've introduced it) for Minecraft Java Edition. The release candidate was the original pre-release. However, we're now making this clearer by changing the name to "release candidate". This means that in the event that there aren't any major issues after this release, no additional modifications will be made prior to the release.
Speaking of the full release: In case you've been living under a rock (it's Minecraft, so that's OK) We'll be making available the Nether Update on Tuesday, 23rd June. That's next week!

Get the Release Candidate
Release candidates are available for Minecraft: Java Edition. To install the release candidate, open the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab.
