Minecraft's silent landscaper Steve is exiting his world of blocks and stepping into Telltale's world of stories: Minecraft is getting a "narrative-driven" game from the creators of The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Similar to Telltale's other games, Minecraft: Story Mode will be episodic and will be available on a variety of platforms when it launches "some time in 2015." Despite the acquisition, it appears that Microsoft's promise to keep Minecraft multiplatform is still in place.
Telltale's describing the game as an "partnership with Mojang," and says it won't exist as an add-on to Minecraft -- it's an independent series "driven by player-generated choices." Both Mojang and Telltale point out that they're working with the community to develop the storyline, and Mojang specifically states "We're not planning to create an official story for Steve (the main character of Minecraftor describing the world of Minecraft in detail."
There are no videos or images of the game in action just yet, but we are expecting the same distinct art style like Minecraft. Don't even mess with me Minecraft.
