The class that I am taking is not a good fit for me or the class. There is no teacher to assist with my IEP, which has resulted in many issues. Ms. Torres is unavailable the vast majority of time for making up tests and quizzes, which was done by Mr. Duran last year. In addition to this, while I am working on my ADHD and stresses that came from the passing of a family member, there are still moments when the ADHD or stress from the death that causes me to become energetic. I restrain myself as best as I can, but it is difficult when the teacher- as opposed to helping during these brief moments, or helping me get back on track- simply does not act and makes a mental note of it to take account of when distributing the class involvement grade. I took the class because Mr. Duran was so helpful last year- always coming around and making sure that me and others with IEPs were on track and understood the material- so I took the more advanced Spanish course. After realizing that Mr Duran was not going to be in the class I thought that I could do well regardless. The reason for this being a late decision is because Ms. Torres has not put grades in up until this moment, making it impossible to discern how well I was doing in the class. In addition to this, the class is constantly laughing at me- which is probably going to be brought up. I truly am doing nothing intentional, and they are laughing at me either from my mannerisms brought on by my ADHD. Instead of controlling the class and acting with how this is my ADHD affecting me, she has instead states that I am “disrupting the class.” I am not critisizing Ms. Torres skills in teaching, but there is no doubt that handling of my ADHD and mental trauma that I have been through could be much better.
