features three women (Marcela Agoncillo her daughter Lorenzo, and Delfina
Herboso de Natividad, Dr. Jose Rizal’s niece). The most famous filipino artwork may
be this one, although there are rumors that Amorsolo's portrayal is inaccurate
because one of the three women embroidering the Philippine flag is a child. It is
assumed that Fernando Amorsolo molds this painting to show the people of the
Philippines of how the Philippine flag was created and to remind them the heritage
and customs that we did not comprehend it becomes faded. To take care and give
value to the National flag which it symbolizes as white triangle stands for equality
and fraternity; the blue field for peace, truth, and justice; and the red field for
patriotism and valor. The first eight provinces that the colonists declared to be under
martial law are represented by the sun's eight rays. The three stars stand for
Mindanao, Visayas, and Luzon. The fact that our predecessors risked their lives to
achieve freedom from colonial rule merely serves as evidence for us to love and be
proud of our country. Amorsolo's paintings make it clear that he is a nationalist
because some of them celebrate and honor the various traditions, cultures, and
customs of the Filipino people. The first Philippine flag was woven by Marcela
Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo, and Delfina Natividad, as shown in the painting. Tony
(Fernando Amorsolo) claimed that the piece's inspiration came from the fact that "our
flag is a national symbol. It implies that our nation is free. It acts as a kind of thread
connecting all of us Filipinos.
