For iT Administrators - get Minecraft: Education Edition

When you sign up for the Minecraft: Education Edition trial or purchase a Minecraft: Education Edition subscription, Minecraft: Education Edition will be added to the inventory of your Microsoft Admin Center which is connected to your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) tenant. Only administrative members of your company are able to access your Microsoft Admin Center.



If you don't have an Azure AD tenant or Office 365 tenant you can request Minecraft Education Edition to setup an absolutely free Office 365 Education subscription. For more details, check out Office 365 Education plans and pricing.



Configurations for Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft A5 customers of 365



Schools that purchased these products have an additional option to make Minecraft Education Edition available to their students:



- Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft 365 A5 – Minecraft: Education Edition



Administrators can enable Minecraft: Education Edition for students using Microsoft 365 A3 and Microsoft 365 A5 if they are part of your school's tenant. From the menu left in Microsoft Admin Center, select Users. From the Users list, choose the users you wish to add or remove for Minecraft: Education Edition access. If the license hasn't been assigned Add the A3 or A5 license.



Note



If you choose to add an instructor's licence then the user will be assigned an instructor position in the application and will be granted greater authority.



After selecting the appropriate license for the product, ensure Minecraft: Education Edition is switched off or on, depending on if you want to remove or add Minecraft: Education Edition from the user (it will be turned on by default).



After your students have used Minecraft: Education Edition for at least 30 days, you can turn off this feature so they have access to the game for 30 days or more days.



How do I get Minecraft: Education Edition



Users with a Microsoft verified academic institution account will have access to the free trial limited logins to Minecraft Education Edition. This gives faculty accounts 25 logins at no cost and student accounts 10 logins at no cost. To purchase direct licenses, visit Minecraft: Education Edition - direct purchase.



If you've been approved and are part of the Enrollment for Education Solutions volume license program, you can purchase a volume license of Minecraft Education Edition. For more information, go to Minecraft: Education Edition - volume license.



Minecraft Education Edition - Direct Purchase



Go to https://education.minecraft.net/ and select How to Buy in the top navigation bar.

Scroll down and choose Buy Now under Direct Purchase.



This will take you to the Microsoft Admin Center purchase page. Log in to your Administrator account.



If necessary, complete any details regarding payment or your organization.



Select the number of licenses you wish to purchase, and then click Place Order.



After you've purchased your licenses You'll have to assign them to users in the Admin Center.



You can buy or remove subscription licenses when you need additional Minecraft: Education Edition licenses.



Minecraft: Education Edition - volume licensing



Educational institutions that are qualified can purchase Minecraft: Education Edition licenses through their Microsoft channel partner. Schools need to be part of the Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) volume licensing program. Educational institutions must work with their channel partner to decide which Minecraft: Education Edition licensing option is the most suitable for their institution. This is how it works:



- Your channel partner will submit your volume license order. Your licenses will appear on the Volume Licensing Service Center and will be available on your Microsoft Store for Education. An email will be sent to you with a a link for Microsoft Store for Education. Log in to Microsoft Store for Education to distribute and manage the Minecraft: Education Edition licenses. Payment options for Minecraft Education Edition



You can pay for Minecraft Education Edition with a credit card or debit card, or by sending an invoice.



Credit or debit cards



Click Add a new method of payment during the purchase. Enter the necessary information for your credit or debit card.



Invoices



Invoices are now an accepted payment method for Minecraft Education Edition. There are a few prerequisites:



Admins only (not supported by Teachers) A $500 minimum invoice for your first purchase $15,000 maximum invoice (for all invoices within the organization)



To pay using an invoice



Click on Add a new payment option when you purchase.



Select the Invoice option, and provide the info needed to create an invoice. You can add the tracking number or any other information relevant to your business to the PO number item.
