Technoblade, Minecraft YouTuber Watched by Millions, Dead At 23

In less than a decade, Technoblade amassed nearly 11 million YouTube subscribers and 3.7 million Twitter followers, as he shared his love for Minecraft, a video game where players can create virtual worlds using blocks and come up with their own storylines. Technoblade announced his diagnosis of cancer back in August 2021, telling his followers via a video of himself playing the game that he sought medical attention due to pain in his arm which initially thought was a an injury caused by repetitive stress from gaming.



Technoblade's father claimed that Technoblade sent his last message eight hours before his death. Technoblade's father, holding back tears, said that Technoblade was "the most amazing child" anyone could ever wish for. He added: "I miss Technoblade."



Technoblade's father broke the devastating news to viewers on his channel.



The video that has been watched more than 19 million times, concluded with an announcement from Technoblade's family, which read: "This past year had many rough patches for our son, who was fighting cancer of the stage four. He didn't whine, and kept using his famous strategic thinking skills to fight what he believed to be impossible odds. My son's determination on this path was a great lesson for all of us who were fortunate enough to be able to walk with him. Thank you for sharing his journey through it all and for doing the work he loved for his beloved fans."



Fans, celebrities and other gamers have shared their condolences on social networks.



YouTuber Ted Nivison recalled him as "Effortlessly funny." Incredibly talented. Gone too soon. Rest easy Technoblade.



TommyInnit Another YouTuber who is popular, wrote on Twitter: "Technoblade is a legendary figure. From being a huge fan, to one of his actual friends, I'm not able to express how grateful I am to have been in his life. He's planning in heaven how to beat God, I know that.

Sarcoma Foundation of America sent an official statement to CNN in which it paid tribute to Technoblade and offering condolences to his family.



Brandi Felser, CEO of the charity, stated in the statement: "Technoblade rallied his supporters to raise over $500,000 to date to support Sarcoma research. This enabled SFA to grant research grants in Technoblade's honor. Through these efforts, he will leave an impactful legacy that will be felt by generations to come."



Felser declared that Technoblade will be recognized with the organization's Courage Award, which is an annual honor given to those who motivate others to "create hope and a better life for the sarcoma population" later in the year.
