Mojang Studios, the Microsoft-owned company that developed Minecraft has issued an announcement regarding NFTs. Mojang stated that NFTs would not be allowed in Minecraft.
The company said NFTs are excluded and encourage "profiteering."

Mojang Studios, the company behind Minecraft has stated that it will not be adding NFTs in the game. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
NFTs, also known as non-fungible tokens (or non-fungible tokens) are digital assets that may be described as digital art.
Other major games studios have also embraced the recent NFT craze and the gaming industry is viewed by some as a major growth market for the tokens.
Mojang has made it clear that it will not be joining the bandwagon.
In its statement Mojang said NFTs "create models of exclusion and scarcity that are in contradiction to our guidelines and the spirit of Minecraft. NFTs aren't inclusive of all our communities and create a scenario of the haves and have-nots."
Mojang also appeared to be worried that NFTs in Minecraft could be a source of fraudulent activity.
"The speculation on pricing and investment mindset around NFTs takes the focus away from the game and encourages profiteering," the company said.
"We are also concerned about third-party NFTs that may not be reliable, and could cost players who purchase NFTs."
The popularity of Minecraft gives Mojang's announcement credibility. According to the data of NPD Group, Minecraft was the most popular game in the US during the first three months.
Microsoft owns Mojang Studios. Insider has contacted Microsoft to find out if Mojang's statement was representative of the company's overall position regarding NFTs. Microsoft did not respond immediately.
