What devices could be at risk of being 'one of the most serious cyber security threats' 02:18
Microsoft has warned that hackers are exploiting a critical flaw in the software used by large tech companies around the globe. They are associated with the governments of China and North Korea, Iran, North Korea, and Turkey. So far, hackers from foreign countries appear to have played around with the vulnerability, which is found in Java-based software known as "Log4j" that companies around the world use to log data in their applications. A senior US cybersecurity official said they have no evidence that federal networks had been compromised by the vulnerability. The Log4j flaw could affect most of the internet. Apple's cloud computing service as well as security firm Cloudflare and Minecraft one of the most played video games all run Log4j, according to researchers.

Klobuchar: Manchin is'still at negotiating table about Building Back Better -- full interview 09/05
The movement on the Build Back Better Bill, the $1.75 trillion economic and climate package that is one of the mainstays of President Joe Biden's legislative agenda will likely be delayed until next year. Biden and Democrats had wanted to adopt the bill prior to the end of the year. However talks between Biden, Democratic Senator Joe Manchin and Joe Manchin, who is a key swing vote, haven't resulted in any resolution. One of the most pivotal issues that are hindering progress is the child tax credit. Biden's top priority is the tax credit because it provides aid to families and helps reduce child poverty. Manchin wants it to be taken out of the bill. Even the two senators Biden and Manchin did agree the bill needs to be approved and finalized for a vote.

A report was released by the Miami-Dade Grand Jury that looked into the Surfside condo collapse, which resulted in the deaths of 98 people. The report calls for increased funding and inspectors, as well as staff to identify dangerous buildings, and suggests raising the standards of qualification for inspectors. The panel recommended that the certification process for residential properties should be initiated no later than 40 years after the property is built. The engineering firm selected for the Surfside condo's 40-year recertification in 2018 had discovered "deep" concrete deterioration however they were unable to perform repairs due to structural stability concerns. Although it was not their job to pinpoint the reason for the collapse, the grand juror said that investigators haven't found the exact cause , despite six months after the incident.
