Minecraft's Mangrove Restoration Project Map is all About Activism

Minecraft is an area where everything is possible. It's one of the shining examples of the capabilities that sandbox games are capable of because people use it to play in countless different ways. It's used by some players to make their favorite games, others to program new features into the game's systems, and some simply love building amazing things.



There are also plenty of cool maps that are available for download among them, and one of the most intriguing of them is The Mangrove Restoration Project by Everbloom Games. Everbloom Games make a fair few maps however this one has an eco friendly feel. The map challenges players to restore mangrove forests around the globe and to plant new trees.

To monitor the levels of CO2 for CO2 levels, you'll require an electronic monitor. The more trees are planted and the more wildlife is expected to return to the area. While it's not the same as doing good in the world, it's a fantastic way to show younger players how they can benefit the planet.



The map, dubbed Rooted Together is available for download here. It's an integral part of the Nature Conservancy partnership Mojang is involved in, with them donating $200,000 to the cause, and will also see some charity streams coming later in the summer. It's nice to see that this is more than just an awesome map to play with.
