Similar to Minecraft Dungeons, Legends is creating new mobs for Minecraft.
Magnus Nedfors, Minecraft Legends director of creative Magnus Nedfors, Minecraft Legends' creative director, and Dennis Ries, executive producer were on the Xbox booth livestream this week at Gamescom to discuss some details about Legends. They also shared information on new mobs that can be both friend and foe. Mojang Interactive and Blackbird Interactive are launching a new RTS spinoff that will make its mark in the Minecraft world, as with previous genre experiments. Dungeons stepped out of the bounds of existing Minecraft mythology to create mobs needed to be suited to its action RPG setting and Legends is doing the same.
The main villains in Minecraft Legends are the familiar Nether inhabitants, also known as the Piglins. The Piglins were revealed in the trailer's first trailer. While we're familiar with Piglins and Hoglins in Vanilla Minecraft, Legends is adding what Nedfors calls a "Pigmadillo," which crouches down into a cube, and contrary to what you'd expect in light of the cube's physics it is able to roll offensively towards the object it's attacking. There are also "Bruisers" that Ries points out come with two razor blades to use. Bit horror-esque, innit? The new trailer for Mojang's film in cinematic form features both mobs.
On the friendly side there are two types of golems in your troops: the Cobblestone Golem who is great in destroying enemies' structures and the Plank Golem which Ries calls a ranged unit. You can also use speed wheat and a special mushroom to jump higher to travel around the globe and unlock new Legends areas.

Minecraft Dungeons, for its part, also included new mobs such as the Iceologers and Mountaineers. The Minecraft Live 2020 fan vote to choose which mob to include in Vanilla Minecraft to Vanilla Minecraft included the Iceologers. They were defeated by Glow Squid, but I'd like to see one of these Legends baddies have the same chance to achieve Vanilla Mine fame.
If you didn't know that there's a badger in the trailer as well. Project Badger was the codename of Minecraft Legends before it was made public. It could be a nod to. It could even be granted status as a mob official.
