The White House appears to be looking to capitalize on fascination with augmented reality after Pokemon Go's success. A new, official White House app called 1600 allows anyone with a tablet or smartphone and a $1 note to tour 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest today wrote that President Obama has utilized traditional occasions as well as new technology to open the White House's doors to more Americans than ever.
Although the app doesn't grant you any actual security clearance, it does give you a cute, 3D-interactive version of the White House when you point your camera at a dollar bill. As you fly through the tiny, Minecraft-esque White House, you can even watch major events such as state arrival ceremonies and the annual Easter Egg Roll unfold.
The application is free to download (Thanks, Obama) and was developed by the White House Historical Association and Nexus Studios. It is available for both Android and iOS devices.
