Taekwondo Belts Explained
Taekwondo belts are a part of the martial arts training process. Whether you are starting a new class or continuing your old one, you will need to know what each one represents and what each one entails. There are four basic types of belts: black, blue, green, and brown.
Black belt

The process of achieving a Taekwondo black belt consists of fitness testing, demonstrations of techniques, combination exercises, and semi-contact technical sparring. It also includes theory tests. While the first black belt test may be the easiest to pass, it is the most difficult to achieve. If you are considering pursuing a black belt, it's important to understand the process and the requirements.

Most Taekwondo federations recognize ten levels of black belt. Those at the first level learn basic kicks like the side kick and back kick. Students at the intermediate and high colored belt levels progress to the spinning hook kick. In addition to perfecting the basics, black belt students also focus on enhancing the power and accuracy of their kicks.

A black belt is the highest level of achievement in Taekwondo and is a mark of discipline and skill. Those who have achieved a black belt have dedicated many years to their training. The process can be long and demanding. A black belt requires countless hours of hard work and discipline. It cannot be considered a hobby.
Blue belt

The first step in achieving a black belt in Taekwondo is earning your blue belt. It takes a lot of hard work and training to get this belt. It entails one-step sparring, two-step sparring, and free sparring. In addition, you must be able to defend yourself against holds and break free using blows and kicks. You must train for at least nine months before you can test for a black belt.

A blue taekwondo belt is symbolic of the sky, light, and truth. It allows the student to develop and grow. The belt also teaches leadership skills, as it is required for the student to take on real sparring challenges. Those with blue belts also receive lessons in how to be a leader and how to defend themselves.

A blue belt test is similar to a green belt test, with some differences. The test involves two-step sparring and a pattern different from the green belt. The candidate must be able to break a two-inch board with a punch and a turning kick. This test usually takes four to five months to complete.
Green belt

If you want to become a Green belt in Taekwondo, you need to train for about 40 hours. This training should include reading books on the green belt reading list and leading warm ups before class. The first step in becoming a Green belt is to start practicing in sparring matches. In sparring matches, it is important to use the correct technique and the proper stance. You should avoid stepping into the opponent's guard.

The process of becoming a green belt in Taekwondo requires a lot of patience. You must master the movements learned during the previous belt phases. At the same time, you will have to master some new concepts. These concepts may seem tedious and boring, but you must remember that they are extremely important.

The second step is to achieve the black belt. This belt is a step above the green belt. It is worn with the same belt as the first belt, but it has a black strip on it. A black belt signifies a high level of knowledge and control.
Brown belt

Taekwondo is a martial art and each belt has its own special significance. A brown belt symbolizes a strong foundation and is worn by students who are practicing for the black belt. A white belt, on the other hand, signifies the end of training and focuses knowledge and control.

A student must have a basic understanding of the art before he or she can earn a black belt. The student must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the basic techniques and must stay for a period of at least six months to be awarded the rank. This means learning the Songham 4 form and some basic sparring.

Students who complete the requirements for a yellow belt then progress to the orange belt stage. Students learn the Taeguk Ee Jang form at this stage, which includes the Trap Back Kick, Middle Block, and Axe Kick. Students will also learn the Back Stance.

Students may skip a belt level if they are exceptionally gifted. Some may skip two belt tests at once, but these students are generally more experienced martial artists. The ITF taekwondo belt levels follow a life cycle. During a class, all students train together. An instructor guides students through each belt level and helps them move from their current belt to the next.
White belt

A white taekwondo belt signifies the novice stage of a student's training. A student will be required to learn basic techniques, such as stances and sine-waves, in order to advance. This belt will also show that a student is learning basic kicks, punches, and techniques.

At this level, the student can begin sparring. The training at this level is more advanced. The students learn to use different techniques in order to defend themselves. They will also learn to be a leader. After a student has reached this level, they may advance to the next stage of study, the Orange Belt.

During the first few years of training, students can work on improving their skills. There are two stages of learning Taekwondo: the beginner phase and the advanced phase. Each phase represents a different challenge. In each class, students train under the guidance of an instructor, who helps them advance from their current belt to the next. White belt students will first learn the Keebon One form and basic techniques.

White belts are often the first ones in a person's training, and the process of advancing up the ranks is important to ensure a quality education. Taekwondo's belt system is governed by two major governing bodies: the World Taekwondo Federation and the International Taekwon-Do Federation. While the standards are different, most competitions will accept white belts and allow them to compete.
Purple belt

A student who has reached the rank of purple belt in Taekwondo has achieved a very important goal in the martial art. Traditionally, a student can only receive a black belt after they have passed all nine grades of Taekwondo. However, age restrictions have changed over the years, and younger students can now pass the dan exam, earning a special poom rank (which is really a junior black belt). The special poom rank automatically turns into a regular dan when a trainee reaches the age of fifteen.

While the black belt represents the apex of the art, the purple belt is actually a mid-level rank between the black and green belts. It signifies a student's high proficiency level in taekwondo and the beginning of learning more advanced techniques. A student who achieves a black belt, however, has already achieved all the techniques, and represents the pinnacle of the art.

The Moosae is a very powerful technique that can be gentle or powerful. The technique #112 is a good example of this, as the attack is designed to be powerful and effective at the same time. The front kick should be performed at knee level, and the cross stance back fist strike should be performed with the edge of the foot turned 45 degrees.
Yellow belt

To advance to a yellow taekwondo belt, students must pass a series of tests. They must demonstrate knowledge of the stances and basic self-defense techniques. They must also be able to recite the current form, the Tae Kwon Do Oath, and the five tenets. Additionally, they must know how to count from one to ten in Korean.

Students who have completed the Yellow belt requirements will advance to the next stage, called the Orange Belt. This belt represents the rising sun, and students will learn the Taeguk Ee Jang form in this stage. This form combines the Axe Kick, Middle Block, and the Back Stance.

The timing for advancing to the next level of the taekwondo belt depends on the organisation you choose, but the average time span is about four to six months. During this period, students must practice regularly in order to achieve the next rank. It can take up to two to three months to get a senior yellow belt.

When a student progresses to a higher level, the next level is the black belt. The black belt represents the highest level of achievement and proficiency in the art. Yellow symbolizes the first beam of sunlight that gives a seed strength. It also symbolizes the beginning of a new life and evolution.
