The four principal developers behind Bukkit the most popular set of unofficial modifications for Minecraft servers, have been hired on by Mojang the creators of the highly popular block-world simulator. my games Mojang states that Warren Loo, Erik Broes, Nathan Adams and Nathan Gilbert will join the company to update Bukkit and make it more compatible with the upcoming version of the game and to enable support other server mods in the future.
Loo writes in official forms that the Bukkit team will basically rebuild the game's API. This will allow unofficial developers to access the game's mechanisms more easily and smoothly. Mojang mentions that there are several teams that have developed popular mods for the game including Spout and Forge, but Bukkit is the only one. Bukkit team was chosen because they've created a specific mod specifically for Minecraft servers. They will be working on "more than just modding."
The gentlemen are obviously very excited to join the Mojang players. This happens when a company whose game you are working on for free decides to begin paying you real money.
