iLands is a no-cost game for iPhone and iPad which is available for iOS 4.3 or later. iLands Premium can be purchased for US $3.99. If you're not wanting to pay $6.99 for Minecraft - Pocket Edition, then this is the game for you. You begin with a brand-new block world that you can build on and modify according to your own personal preferences.
The graphics are decent in comparison to Minecraft Pocket Edition. Pocket Edition, but they could be better. The D-pad on the left side of the screen allows strafing, moving forwards and backwards. Moving around using the D-pad can be difficult at times. The sensitivity takes a little getting used at first, but it's bearable for the most part. The control on the right is for jumping up, and it worked pretty well. The experience of maneuvering the terrain was a little jerky, especially when you had to jump over obstacles. Sometimes, the touch targets wouldn't respond unless I tapped them multiple times. It took more than two taps to break dirt or grass, or even blocks using the X button. MINECRAFT SERVERS While I was creating and exploring my Solo world it crashed frequently.
A building material base is given to you. These include sand, grass and bricks. The steel skeleton blocks are unique to iLands since I've not seen anything like them in Minecraft - Pocket Edition. The steel skeleton blocks are awesome because they allow you to build an extremely solid structure and have a view and daylight unlike building with solid blocks. I enjoyed building with cobblestone for roads and houses. The materials that have locks can be removed by purchasing the full version. This review was done with the free version.
If you're looking for a survival mode similar to Minecraft - Pocket Edition, you will not find it in the free version of iLands. I'm unsure it something like survival is available in the full paid version. I tend to play in creative mode every day in Minecraft - Pocket Edition anyway, so I didn't mind that in iLands.
If you like building blocks in a virtual setting, iLands is a worthwhile free download. I'd be interested in learning what all the paid version of the game allows users to do, apart from unlocking building materials. I was a fan of building buildings and any other projects my imagination could conjure up.
