Hiring a marketing executive
Marketing executives are usually part of a larger marketing team whose goal is to raise awareness of new products, brands, and services through campaigns and projects. Leaders tend to be involved for practical rather than strategic purposes, but they are often involved in more than one aspect of a campaign. As a result, they are likely to be given more responsibility and have to juggle many priorities.
What does a marketing manager do?
Typical responsibilities of a marketing manager include:
incorporating ideas into marketing campaigns
conducting research and data analysis to identify and define the audience
collection, dissemination and presentation of ideas, information and strategies
coordinating promotional activities, events and interviews
managing the production and execution of multimedia content
writing and proofreading creative text
website support and data analytics tracking
updating databases and using a customer relationship management system (CRM)
budget monitoring
social media campaign management
monitoring the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
This role typically includes a high amount of online and digital marketing work as employers typically manage the website and social media accounts. As such, executives may need to learn analytics and develop appropriate action plans, create written and multimedia content, and manage pay-per-click (PPC) and programmatic advertising—perhaps assisting the social media manager with these tasks. Thus, it is useful to have familiarity and knowledge of digital and online marketing techniques.
Business hours are generally standard (9:00-17:00), but you may be required to attend events outside of business hours. This role may include travel, such as meeting clients and visiting event venues.
Graduate Marketing Professional Salary
If you join the Marketing Graduate Scheme, you can earn between £20,000 and £30,000. Graduates in entry-level marketing leadership positions are likely to earn upwards of £27,000.

Required qualifications and training
There are routes to marketing for both university graduates and school graduates.
Typically, marketing opportunities are open to graduates from any discipline. Marketing education is not required. However, a degree or postgraduate degree in a subject such as marketing, economics, business, statistics, or sociology may be helpful. Some specialist roles, such as those in pharmaceuticals, may require a scientific or technical background, but for all marketing roles, experience in managing social media accounts, creating multimedia resources, communicating with people from all backgrounds is essential.
Membership and professional qualifications offered by professional organizations such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute of Data and Marketing (IDM) can also be helpful in obtaining a graduate job.
