Minecraft's ray tracing feature for Windows 10 has made its way out of beta for eight months following the feature first became accessible to testers. The look and feel of the sandbox game has been changed by the addition of ray tracing capabilities to NVIDIA's RTX graphic cards. We've previously mentioned that Minecraft feels more immersive because of the realistic lighting, reflections and shadows it creates. While the game remains very simple, the game's lighting is real-looking. Shadows and reflections can make it appear as if you're in the real world.
You'll be able to see the benefits of ray-tracing in the game if you are using a computer equipped with one of NVIDIA GPUs that support the ray-tracing. Atlwood Only maps and worlds that use a physical-based rendering texture pack will benefit from the benefits. It's not necessary to do anything, as it's already on by default. Other players who don't have access to this feature will see the worlds with normal visuals.
In its announcement, NVIDIA says ray tracing puts more stress on your GPU, which is why it utilizes its DLSS AI rendering technology to ensure that Minecraft with RTX will continue to run at minimum 60 FPS when playing at 1920x1080. The most advanced GPU models (RTX 3080 and 3090) can play the game at 4K with over 60FPS.
You can download worlds that you can use using ray tracing from the Marketplace or create your own using NVIDIA's starter kit. Minecraft and NVIDIA are also releasing two new worlds for free: Colosseum RTX is already available, and Dungeon Dash RTX is due shortly.
