He was born C.680 at Damascus he learned from a monk named Cosmas and St John Learned logic, philosophy ,science and more. He wrote three treaties against the heresy of Iconoclasm and that made the caliph Cut off his right hand . His hand was restored by the Mother of God and he created the icon of the Mother of God with the third hand which is the silver hand which represents his hands.He went to a monastery of saint Savva. He went back to Damascus to sell some baskets from a vary high price and his former house steward, saw him and St John was dressed in rages and taters and his former house steward bought all of the baskets for the with the full price . One of the monks died and asked St John of Damascus to write a something consoling for his burial service He refused to do it but he convenced Him to write it but he got expelled from the the monastery. He came back to the monastery and washed the toilets and clean the whole monastery.
