Yes, the image you see above is of a map that was created in Minecraft. It's part of a 16-kilometer realistic terrain project that provides a variety of topography for you to build your own on. It's a stunning collection deserts, mountains, swamps, and forests that you can download and use as a backdrop for your own Minecraft designs.
The map is called Kythor, and it was constructed by qwryzu in the course of about two months of work using World Machine and World Painter. "I intentionally made this map with large areas for building," qwryzu says, "specifically with mods (shoutout Immersive Railroading gang). It's not the most detail-rich map I've ever created, but I would like to see that it will serve as a good backdrop for large constructions."
You can download the map for yourself on Planet Minecraft. It's available for Java Edition, and while it was developed in 1.12.2 It should be compatible with any current version but qwryzu doesn't know whether the height changes to the world in 1.17 might cause issues.

After 2 months of intense work, qwryzu has created their most complete map to date. It features four continents that have mountains and lakes as well as deserts.
