How To Play Minecraft (Beginner's Guide)

As opposed to other video games, Minecraft allows you to take control of the game. It even has options allowing players to act as moderators, and to build their own coding/modding directly into the game!



Logging in and accessing the main menu



This table outlines what you can do when you click on the buttons in the main menu:



SinglePlayer: Start or continue the game. This article explains how to begin an SinglePlayer game.



- MultiPlayer: Join other players online.



- Languages: Change the language of the text in Minecraft. Click the tiny button just left of the Options button, to display an animated speech bubble that contains the globe.



- Options: Manage game options such as sound, graphics mouse controls, difficulty levels and general settings.



Quit Game: Close the browser unless you are in the In-Browser mode.



Start your first game in SinglePlayer mode.

1. To view a complete listing of all worlds, click on the SinglePlayer button



If you're just starting out in Minecraft This list should be blank.



2. Click the Create New World button to begin the game.



The Create New World page appears.



3. Enter any name in the World Name text box and click on the Create New World button at the bottom of the screen.



When you enable cheats in games, it can increase or decrease the difficulty level when you play, and also changes between Creative mode and Adventure mode. Cheats let you have more control over the game's environment especially when you're just beginning.



After you've created your world, the game starts by generating the world and placing your avatar (character) within it.



Selecting the right game mode in Minecraft



Survival - after randomly being placed in a different world, players have to try to survive by gathering material for shelter, building shelters, gaining experience, and fighting off hostile mobs. Creative The game mode allows players to instantly access almost all items and blocks, be invulnerable to death, and fly. This game mode lets players to create and design unique worlds. Adventure - Players interact with objects (levers and buttons) and mobs in order to complete their adventure. Spectator - inaccessible to everyone and cannot interact blocks, entities or your own inventory. This mode is used to observe the worlds of other players. Hardcore Like survival mode, Hardcore is set to the "hard" difficulty level for the duration of the game and players cannot return to the game; after you die the map is removed (or you permanently become spectator).
