Most weeks we release early versions of Minecraft updates to test out new features, shake out the wrinkles, and eliminate the bugs before they reach more people. Ebookmarks It's a great way for users like you to check out the latest features we're developing, before it's officially launched!
If the idea of seeing new things first has you excited, and you don't mind getting into some bugs in the process, then have a look at your preferred platform below!
These versions are unstable by nature which means that things can be weird, wonky or just plain wrong. The game could crash, and the things you create could be corrupted. This is a small risk, but it's still an risk!
In the Java Edition, we put out regular test versions known as Snapshots. Simply go to the Launch Options tab, enable Snapshots and then select the latest snapshot by clicking the Arrow next to the Play button on the main tab.
XBOX One
Minecraft Preview is now available on Xbox One. This preview is free for anyone who owns a digital copy Minecraft. It will also be available through Xbox Game Pass later in the year. WINDOWS 10 & 11
Windows is now offering Minecraft Preview for free to all Minecraft owners and subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Find out more about Preview on the Minecraft Preview FAQ!
IPHONES AND IPADS
iOS now has Minecraft Preview, which players can sign up for by clicking this link whenever slots are available. We may occasionally open additional slots and we'll take out inactive users to let new players to join. Read more about Preview in the Minecraft Preview FAQ!
Android provides an Beta program that you can join at any time even if you already have Minecraft. Please note that by joining this Beta you will be replacing your regular version of Minecraft with the Beta version. Additionally the Beta version does not have access to Realms or Featured Servers and can only play in multiplayer worlds with other Beta players.
Click here to join the Android Beta. You can then click "Become Tester" and then click "Leave the Program". After you leave, you'll need to uninstall and then re-install Minecraft to get back to the official version. Be aware that the worlds you play in the beta period may not be playable outside of the beta until the next release following leaving the Beta program.
