You were excited. We were excited. Overall excitement was palpable as Minecraft Festival tickets were going to be released on Friday of this week, starting the countdown for our blockstravaganza that will be held in person this September. However, after careful consideration and a lot of discussion, we've decided to delay the event until next year.
In recent weeks, the COVID-19 epidemic has caused many organizers to cancel or postpone events and gatherings across the world in order to ensure the safety and health of their guests. The situation around Minecraft Festival, however, is a little different. We are still months away from September, and we cannot know the length of time it will take to stop the outbreak. This decision is rather an outcome of the lengthy preparations needed to stage such a massive event.
Our producers, partners, and exhibitors are based in all corners of the globe, and as of moment, we aren't able to connect and collaborate the way we want to. We are unable to know when we will be able to resume planning therefore we have decided to hold off on the event. This way we can be sure that the event next year will be the one that the community hopes for and deserves.
This is true, but it's still very disappointing. However, we have good news as well! Minecraft Live will take place exactly as it was planned. It will be the place to get all the latest Minecraft news, announcements, and behind the scenes exclusives and will be live-beamed straight to your screen, no matter where you are.
