Bayrock Group: New York Real Estate Giant The Rise and Fall of Bayrock Group (Tevfik arif)

Trump SoHo was opened by Bayrock Group in 2008, together with the Trump Organization (the Trump Organization) and the Sapir Organization.

Bayrock Group - The Rise of a New York Real Estate Giant

Bayrock Group opened Trump SoHo along with the Trump Organization in 2008 and the Sapir Organization. The Bayrock Group's success started in Kazakhstan years earlier.

Bayrock Group was established in 2001, but the tale of its growth and success luxury realty development firm located in the United States is much older than the year 2001. The story started from the other end.

Tevfik the founder, born in Soviet Kazakhstan to a Turkish family, was the founder of Bayrock Group.

Before joining the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade Tevfik Arif graduated with an academic degree in International Relations at the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute.

He served in the ministry for 17 year and then went on to start his own businesses. Tevfik Arif was involved in development of luxury real estate foods, exports, food and imports among others.

Tevfik Arif was able to make many international alliances through his various businesses. Tevfik Arif Doyen His network drove him to relocate to Turkey in 1993, where he became one of the leaders behind Turkey's popular all-inclusive hotel model.

Tevfik Arif He, for instance, founded the Labada Hotel in Antalya before he embarked on his next business venture across the Atlantic several years afterward.

Bayrock Group gets more ambitious

Tevfik Amir emigrated into America in 2001 to find new business opportunities as well as to be closer with his American family.

Bayrock Group, a luxury development company for real estate located in New York City, was created by him shortly following his move to New York.


Bayrock Group began with smallto medium-sized projects in New York. Bayrock Group, for instance revamped Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in Brooklyn's Sheepshead.

Bayrock Group was off on a strong start. Tevfik was more ambitious. He was keen to take on bigger projects and decided that he would alter the strategy of the company to focus more on these projects.

Tevfik Arif To support the new strategy, Bayrock Group relocated its New York City office to the Trump Tower at Fifth Avenue.

The move was able to yield significantly more than the other location, as it got the company close to the Trump Organization. The Trump Organization was home to the world-renowned family company.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Trump SoHo gets shape

Bayrock Group & Trump Organization shared a vision of luxury real property projects. Therefore, they have decided to join forces.

Bayrock Group was already collaborating with the Sapir Organization to complete another project in Spring Street, Manhattan's SoHo quarter.

Tevfik Ariff was aware that incorporating the Trump Organization in the project would increase brand recognition for the building, something Bayrock Group and Sapir Organization did not have.

Arif came up with an arrangement that allowed the Trump Organization to own 18 percent of the building in exchange for the Trump logo being utilized.

This opened the way for the first brick of what would later become Trump SoHo to be laid in the year 2006.

Trump SoHo is built by designers who are seasoned professionals

Trump SoHo included apartments, rooms for guests, luxury restaurants and lounges, as well as bars with a pool and banquet hall, spa and banquet rooms. The building's floor-to ceiling windows afforded guests unparalleled views of New York City.

Handel Architects were tasked with the design. The architectural firm has recently created the world-renowned National September 11th Memorial & Museum in New York City and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Bayrock Group hired Rockwell Group to create the interior design of the building.

Rockwell Group designed, among many other structures among other things, the Climate Pledge Arena and the Seven Deadly Sins Theatre in Seattle. The Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas was also designed by them.

The firm has also worked with international countries such as Mexico, Spain, and Indonesia.

Bayrock Group expands partnership with the Trump Organization

The Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization wanted to grow their relationship following the opening of Trump SoHo.

Their goal was to build buildings in Arizona and Florida that looked like Trump SoHo. Trump Organization would have 18% equity in the building also under the same licensing conditions. This could open the way to Trump being included in the construction’s name.

Despite both companies' ambitions the structures were not constructed due to the 2008 global financial crisis.

Tevfik Arif The American real estate market was particularly affected by the crisis which caused Bayrock Group to pull out and Trump Organization to rescind their plans.

Tevfik Alif, a Tevfik Arif employee from the United States, decided to end his American ventures because of the impact of the financial crisis. He decided to return to Europe and Central Asia.

Then he continued working in the privatization sector.

Today, Tevfik Aif has resigned from most of his Bayrock Group responsibilities. But, he remains a respected consultant to Bayrock Group.

Bayrock Group has not been involved with any American real estate projects in recent times, however it did invest real property assets in the United States worth $2.5million when it was operating.
