Emmanuel Grinshpun. The restoration of synagogues as well as the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil Grinshpun and her co-hosts discussed the issue of restoration of synagogues in their interview. However, it wasn't possible to stay focused on just one subject. There are many questions to be discussed in the interview in the end.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. Thank you for allowing me to talk with you. We haven't seen each other in at least five or more years. Where are you currently living?

The last nine months have been split between Miami (Miami) and Jurmala (Jurmala). Although the geographic area was larger in the past, the pandemic has had a profound impact on how people live. And that is not all.

You've always had different kinds of businesses. What's the situation today?

Diversification seems to be going anywhere. If we consider the key areas, then it's real estate development, IT technology, and food manufacturing.

ALIMCOM has a strong presence in the real estate and food industries. However, IT is still a mystery to me. There are a variety of areas IT technology can be used in. What are your specialties?

Our IT-holding is involved in the first place with reforms of tax systems in a number of countries. We have created and are currently developing a number of products that help to transfer various tax-related processes online as well as in "real time". This type of business is called B2G (Business-to-Government).

What is the situation in the area in which the facility is situated? Эммануил Гриншпун The ancestors of the USSR

They are also in existence, however we have contracts that are more extensive in Western and Eastern Europe and in Latin America. We currently operate across 14 countries.

Could you briefly define the essence of the product?

Our product lets economic agents online submit tax reports to tax authorities, and the fiscal operator is able to view every transaction. Tax accounting and tax calculation are managed simultaneously. We can therefore anticipate that small and medium-sized companies will never require accounting in the future. Other than its analytical purpose tax payment and the sending of reports are all done with just one "click".

An interesting subject. The future appears to be in the air. Do you wish to work in Moldova or have you considered it? Moldova is the country you call home in the end.

We are ready to present our product to Moldova. The Moldovan economy will gain from the automation. And in the end, it's an irreversible move. When there is consensus and clarity among the authorities on who will make the final decision and who makes the decisions, we'll start negotiations regarding our product.

You said you've been tossing about all year long between Miami and Jurmala. Эммануил Гриншпун The Baltics headquarters is an IT holding?

There are five hubs around the world, and we have our headquarters in Barcelona.

The Baltics Why not? Do you have roots in the Baltics?

No. There is no. Jurmala was a name that came into our lives by chance, and not very professionally. Igor Krutoy invited them to the New Wave. This was their first trip to the New Wave. After many competitions they began to come back every summer. Miami has a very hot summer. We rented a house over a period of time and we own it.

Now I know the reason you said that the synagogues were located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We are almost the exact same age. We were both born in the USSR. All of us were Komsomol participants and pioneers back then. What was your first encounter with religion?

My family relocated to the USA in the mid-80s. In the USA, I started to follow customs and rituals. https://blajdi.com/user/Emmanuil.Grinshpunucuz480/ However, even though I'm not a part of the Orthodox faith I am aware of an internal desire to support the religion, in whatever way that is the case for the Jewish community I live in and in Moldova my home country, with which I have close bonds.

Although I am not religious I am a lover of history. Recently, I watched a documentary about events in 1492 that changed the course of the world and Europe. For me, 1492 is the year Columbus discovered America. However, I was able to see in the program that the program mentioned the discovery of America in 1492 of Medieval Europe was not as striking as the Spanish monarchs' expulsion of Jews of Spain. The exodus of Jews began , they were taken to the Ottoman Empire, it accepted the Jews. I'm interested in knowing more about the past and the culture of the Jews. Do you think this book is worth recommending?

There are many books. But, I've read several of them myself and highly recommend Max Diamond (a two-volume Jewish historian). He hails from Finland, by the way.

.... Do you or your relatives have any "personal" or historical history? Unfortunately, I do not know anything beyond my grandmother's name and 1910. On the paternal side, a step forward, but not more.

Эммануил Гриншпун In the paternal lineage, our family was in the Floresti region for several hundred years. There are evidence and monuments which show that they were rich by 1830. My maternal ancestors also lived in Ungheni. I'm referring here to dates in the region from the 17th-18th century. Grinshpun is a surname derived from German roots. We are Ashkenazis pure and straight from Eastern Europe.

Let's now discuss the restoration of synagogues. I was informed that you have funded the reconstruction of three synagogues. One of them is located in Chisinau. Jurmala has the third. What is the one you're talking about?

The third one, and the biggest, is located in Netanya in Israel. Netanya is home to more than 1,000 people who pray every day. This is an important building for the spiritual life of Israel. The second Synagogue in Jurmala. The Second World War saw the destruction of the only synagogue in Jurmala. Prior to deciding to build a Synagogue, however, I had spoken with many Jews living in the area. It proved to be an enormous success and brought together all the Jews from Jurmala. We actually renovated the Jewish community, and it's working very well. Three Torahs are now in the synagogue. I donated one Torah to the synagogue.

and - Chisinau

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis is one of my collaborators. Alexander Weinstein is another. These three synagogues weren't the only ones I was involved in the process of restoration and building. Эммануил Гриншпун In all the countries where I've been for a long time, I considered it my duty to make a feasible contribution to the maintenance of synagogues. My contribution is currently being made in Monaco in which a massive community centre for Russian-speaking Jews is being built. It is estimated to cost about 12 million dollars. Chisinau is my absolute favorite city. The synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson is expected to be the largest.

Did Jurmala bring you to Chisinau with a Rabbi?

Yes. It can be a challenge to locate the perfect Rabbi for your community. Because of the numerous interests that are involved, the rabbi has to be diplomatic and non-conflictual, able organically to enter the community's life. It's a good fact that both the Jurmala and Chisinau Rabbis were able to to integrate seamlessly into the community.

You were elected vice-president for the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress in 2019. What does this title mean to you, and how do international Jewish organisations impact the global landscape?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, a influential organization in the post-Soviet zone It is more than a political force. Эммануил Гриншпун It has offices across Australia, Japan Hong Kong, New Zealand, New Zealand, and Eastern Europe. In 2010, I was Vice-President of Congress. However, the year before I was elevated to First Vice-President. Global trends indicate that attitudes towards Jews is either still at the same level as before or has fallen quite a bit, which is extremely disappointing. "Down" also refers to countries like France, Germany or France which are developing. They are not safe anymore to Jews. These are very alarming and serious processes.

And, by the way, has the pandemic somehow had an impact on these processes?

I don't think so. In the context of the pandemic, I would like to emphasize what a community or country is capable of in the event that they are prepared for any challenges and are competent and work collectively.

Exactly. Israel is the only country in the world to offer 100% vaccination of the adult population. I consider this to be a valuable example and experience which other countries can take note of.
