Why did you choose to study this course?
Ideally, Science is that process used in the development of Technology. I see Information Technology (my current course choice) as a direct continuation or consequence of Information Science which was the course of study in my first degree in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. This is also evident in the fact that I am currently employed in the Nigeria Digital Chambers of Commerce, a Non-Governmental Organization that capitalizes on the Information Technologies. Given the foregoing, it is obvious that my choice of course Information Technology is my niche. It is where I choose to expand. Information Technology is the perfect course to advance my career and make me a better professional. Furthermore, as a person proficient in Software development, I am also skilled in Database Development, Management and Administration, all of which I employ in the development of Information Systems. Information Technology is pretty much the study or use of Information Systems.
I.T. or information technology, is one of the most popular career and the fastest-growing sector in the world. There are numerous examples of people who made this their professional choice and are doing well. But there are a lot about I.T. that attracts young professionals to it as a profitable career option. For me, it is for the following reasons:
LOW COST OF EDUCATION
The major benefit of choosing information technology as a career is that, in comparison to many other career options, it has a very low cost of schooling. A four-year degree is not really required to work or study information technology. Instead, a short-term training is required to become certified in particular information technology fields (just like a person like me skilled in Software development). By doing this, I have avoided paying astronomical sums of money for years of degree tuition. Jobs will also grow more quickly the more education and certifications I obtain.
FASTEST CHANGING INDUSTRY
Because the information technology sector moves at a pace that is significantly faster than that of other sectors, there is a constant need for many highly qualified individuals. It is prospective that this professional has a wide range of opportunities to grow and develop thanks to advancements in cloud computing, big data, and cybersecurity. A successful career in information technology requires that I never stop learning and stay current with emerging technologies. As an expert, I will be more employable, more educated and more experienced.
BETTER INCOME
Information technology specialists earn a good wage relative to other professionals, this is a common knowledge. A qualified IT specialist can land a permanent job in the public or private sector with the necessary credentials and experience. Recently, a lot of businesses have hired a lot of specialists in network security, cloud computing, cybersecurity etc. to help them improve their existing systems. For a committed and hardworking IT professional, many IT positions provide excellent career progression chances.
