Bayrock Group's journey from the Suburbs, to Manhattan Tevfik Arif

The Tevfik Arif-driven luxury real estate development firm, Bayrock Group, quickly after its establishment found itself cooperating with the Trump Organization in Manhattan.

How Bayrock Group Went from Suburbs to Manhattan
Many have a dream of living the American dream. Tevfik Arif However, only a tiny proportion of people actually achieve it. Entrepreneur from Turkish Kazakhstan Tevfik Arik was among them when he arrived in America in 2001 to establish his company, Bayrock Group.

The Bayrock Group operates in New York City as a real estate development company.

Initial projects were small to medium in size. It included the redesign and the construction of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in Brooklyn, New York.

Bayrock Group gained traction in the American housing markets and was ready to expand. They began looking for large-scale projects.

The Arif-led organization started working with Sapir Organization in a new massive construction project located on Spring Street in New York City.

Bayrock Group moved its headquarters from the Bayrock Tower to Midtown Manhattan because of the business's rapid growth.

Bayrock Group team up with the Trump Organization
The move resulted in Tevfik and his team members getting together with the Trump Organization. The Trump Organization also had Trump Tower at its base.

Bayrock Discussions were held between Bayrock Group, the Trump Organization after the two companies discovered they shared desires and shared goals.

They formed a partnership that saw the Trump Organization joined Bayrock Group’s project in conjunction with Sapir Organization on Spring Street.

The Trump Organization was at that point managed by an American ex-president Donald Trump.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock E. Trump and Son was established by his maternal grandmother Elizabeth Christ Trump and Fred Trump (in 1927).

Donald Trump, who was just about to be sworn into the White House, handed the management of the company over to his children in the year 2017.

Bayrock Group's lucrative deal
Bayrock Group was relatively new to the New York City property scene when the Trump Organization, Sapir Organization and Bayrock Group started their cooperation.

Tevfik Arif, founder of Spring Street was able to make an arrangement that could boost brand recognition as well as prestige for the project.

According to his sources, Trump Organization would obtain 18% equity in the building in return of having the Trump logo on the building's title.

The arrangement was embraced by the three firms. In 2006, Trump SoHo's first brick was laid.

Two years after, Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization along with the Sapir Organization, inaugurated Trump SoHo, their contribution to New York City’s skyline.

Design experts are in charge of Trump SoHo
Trump SoHo featured 46 stories which included bars and restaurants of high-end status and banquet halls as well as banquet halls and event spaces. Additionally, there was an open-air pool, spa department, apartments, and hotel rooms.

As the three organizations behind the structure were focusing on the highest quality, Handel Architects was entrusted with the design of the exterior of Trump SoHo.

Handel Architects, a respected firm with a broad portfolio, is well-respected. The National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City and the Rosewood hotel residential in Abu Dhabi are among other undertakings.

Rockwell Group designed Trump SoHo’s interiors. Rockwell Group has been responsible for the design of many luxurious bar, restaurants, and hotels around the globe over the years.

Their work includes their work at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel in Mumbai, India, the 93rd Academy Award show and the Amara Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus.

Trump SoHo was a huge success and Bayrock Group and Trump Organization began to consider the possibility of expanding their cooperation.

The goal was to construct structures in Arizona and Florida like Trump SoHo under the same conditions that they have with Trump SoHo. In return, Trump Organization would get 18% equity. It's back again.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization had everything in place. The 2008 economic recession that ravaged the American realty market and the real estate market, put an end to their plans.


The American housing sector was drastically affected by the crisis. Tevfik Alif, Bayrock Group founder and CEO, decided to move out of the United States. He decided to relocate to Europe and Asia where he began his career more than a decade ago.

Bayrock Group has ceased to be active, but Tevfik Ariff continues to be advisor to different divisions.
