As PHECC do not have a register/list of individual FAR instructors, the employer should establish from the individual instructor which ATI they are affiliated to. Occupational First Aid ranges from the treatment of minor cuts to the treatment of life threatening injuries. Recognise and be able to cope with the additional challenges provided by “Special Circumstances” for which additional training must be completed.
The Council publish clinical practice guidelines and recognise institutions to provide pre-hospital emergency care training and education. The 3–day FAR course educates participants in the proper response to any workplace emergency. Participants learn how to recognise medical emergencies, casualty assessment and patient approach.
Another excellent feature of this course is the watersports module designed for watersports enthusiasts. This module is invaluable for aspiring instructors and pleasure boaters alike. This course will enable employers to meet their legal obligations as set out in the safety Health & Welfare at Work Regulations 2007.
first aid certificate
Basic first aid training is required in the workplace to provide care to an individual until a First Aid Responder or a medical professional arrives. The training will give trainees the necessary knowledge and practical skills to competently handle a spectrum of health and safety situations from common injuries and illnesses to more serious incidents. Also included is training in the use of an Automated External Defibrillator and the administration of aspirin for cases of a suspected heart attack.
Anderlift staff will provide a high level of mentoring to course participants and will provide specific guidance in relation to the assessment process, in line with learner requirements. Jo has lived, worked and raced on sailing yachts, as crew member and medic. Combining her personal and industry experience, Jo has adapted this REC level 1 course to the sailing environment. The course is delivered using a power-point presentation with discussions, videos, hands-on practical learning and an skills based assessment along with a multiple choice examination. After successful completion of the FAR training course, each participant will receive a First Aid Response certificate, which is valid for 2 years from date of issue.

The insightful two-hour Parent First Aid paediatric class caters for busy parents and childminders, who simply don’t have the time to attend half day or full day courses. Parent First Aid run classes across Ireland, in local venues, at times that suit busy family lifestyles. STAC took the time last summer to build our First Aid Response course to be the best learner experience possible. It is a highly involved course where the learners will part-take in many patient assessment & treatments. This is a refresher course for previously certified FAR learners. All FAR learners MUST attend a refresher course at least every 2 years to renew their award.
