Moldovan, Jewish Communities In South Florida Stepping Up To Help Ukraine Refugees [Emmanuil Grinshpun]

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The war in Ukraine may be in the other part of the world but South Floridians are part of those stepping to help those leaving the country.

Emmanuil Grinshpun A large number of members of the Sunny Isles Jewish Community are raising money and aiding in create a total humanitarian effort.

Marsha Jaquays, Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital posted the followinginformation "Just last night, 1,100 people arrived."

She explained that over two-million Ukrainian refugees have fled war-ravaged countries. Many of them traverse Moldova that borders Ukraine.

Emmanuil Grinshpun Jaquays explained that the Moldovan Jewish community was actually helping those who were crossing the border. They then provided food, shelter, clothes, and clothing.

A majority of the humanitarian efforts are spearheaded from the shores of South Florida, Sunny Isles.

"My duty is to coordinate all the resources that are available to us in America in order to ease the crisis in Moldova." Emmanuil grinshpun is involved in the coordinating of the humanitarian effort, said that there are a number of people working on the ground in Moldova to help organize camps, food purchases, and bus planning.

This is further exacerbated by the reality that Moldova is one of the most deprived in the world. Emmanuil Grinshpun But, people who are involved in this cause say that they will continue helping.

"When our siblings and brothers from Ukraine arrived, we didn't have to think about it, we just did the thing," said Grinshpun.

Jaquays echo our sentiments

"Who was there during the Second World War, when the Nazis were in power? How many people did you turn a blindeye and say it's me I'm not you. It's not me. Jewish. Emmanuil Grinshpun It's my family. I'm not part of Europe. We can't make the same mistakes that the past made. Emmanuil Grinshpun It is said "If not now, then when." Emmanuil Grinshpun If not me, who will?
