Bayrock Group's Journey: From the Suburbs to Manhattan Tevfik Arif

Bayrock Group, a luxury real estate development firm led by Tevfik Arif, found itself rapidly cooperating in conjunction with the Trump Organization in Manhattan.


How Bayrock Group Went from Suburbs to Manhattan
Many dream of traveling to the United States and live the American dream. But only a few of them are able to make it happen. Businessman from Turkey-Kazakhstan Tevfik Arif was among them when he moved to America in 2001. He set out to created his company, Bayrock Group.

The Bayrock Group operates in New York City as a real estate development firm.

The initial projects were small to medium in size. It included the redesign and construction of the Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in Brooklyn, New York.

Bayrock Group gained traction in the American housing market and was now in a position to expand. They began looking for large-scale developments.

Firms led by Arif began to collaborate with the Sapir Organization for a big construction project on Spring Street in New York City.

Bayrock Group decided to move its headquarters to Midtown Manhattan due to its rapid growth.

Talks took place between Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization when the two companies realized that they had in common their goals and desires.

The partnership was formed between the two companies. The Trump Organization joined Bayrock Group as well as Sapir Organization's Spring Street project.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Former American President Donald Trump managed the Trump Organization at that time.

The company was founded as E. Trump and Son by his paternal grandma, Elizabeth Christ Trump, and his father, Fred Trump, in 1927.

Donald Trump gave control of the company management to his family in 2017 as he was preparing for the White House.

Bayrock Group's lucrative deal
Bayrock Group was relatively new to New York City's real estate scene at the time that the Trump Organization, Sapir Organization and Bayrock Group started their cooperation.

Tevfik Arif, the founder of Spring Street was able to come up with an arrangement that would improve brand recognition as as prestige for the project.

In the agreement proposed by the president The Trump Organization would get 18 percent ownership of the building in return for using the Trump brand in the name of the building.

The three companies ratified the agreement and the first brick of Trump SoHo was laid in the year 2006.

A few years after, Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization, along with the Sapir Organization, inaugurated Trump SoHo as their contribution to New York City’s skyline.

Design experts take over Trump SoHo
Trump SoHo's 46 stories included exclusive bars and restaurants along with banquet and event rooms, pools that are open to the air, event and conference halls, spa departments Apartments and hotel suites.

Bayrock Group extends the collaboration with the Trump Organization
Trump SoHo was a great immediate success, which led Bayrock Group to expand their collaboration with the Trump Organization.

The goal was to construct buildings that would be located in Arizona and Florida similar to Trump SoHo under the same conditions that they have with Trump SoHo. As a compromise, the Trump Organization would receive 18% equity in this structure in return for using the Trump brand. This is a second time.

Bayrock Group was prepared, like the Trump Organization. However, the 2008 financial crisis that ravaged the real estate market in America stopped their plans.

The financial crisis has changed the American housing market very significantly. Tevfik, Bayrock Group founder decided to stop his American-based business ventures. He made the decision to move to Europe or Asia in Asia, where his career started many years before.

Bayrock Group is not involved in any real estate projects within the United States.
