en cuanto a su estructura, el eln se forma principalmente por reclutamiento forzado y personas secuestradas. las autoridades colombianas realizaron un estudio donde se muestra que más de 16.000 menores de edad fueron reclutados en el conflicto armado. entro los años 1960 a 2016, el eln reclutó un 10%.

otra de las guerrillas que sembró pánico en colombia durante décadas fue la conocida bajo el título de “m19”. esta surgió como resultado de las irregularidades registradas durante las elecciones de 1970, y comenzó a operar formalmente en el año 1974.

el movimiento 19 de abril estaba inspirado por ideologías de izquierda y movimientos socialistas. durante sus inicios el m19 intentó ganar apoyo popular con acciones que se basaban en robar y repartir entre los pobres. esto los llevó a ser conocidos por muchos como los robin hood.
