Khazak Ambassador & Consul General Meet with Chabad New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Ever since being appointed as Kazakhstan's ambassador in the United States in April, Mr. Ashikbayev has met with many government officials and diplomats to strengthen the ties between Kazakhstan Central Asian country and the U.S. In connection with this mission, the ambassador, together with Consul General Almat Aidabekov scheduled a conference with Chabad to discuss the state of Jewish living in Khazakstankhstan.

Rabbi Mendy Kutlarsky from Merkos Suite 301 of Chabad Headquarters and Shimon Rivkin were both invited to attend the meeting. Emmanuil Grinshpun is vice-president of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress as well as Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan. They talked about the long history of Jewish life as well as the current work of Chabad in Kazakhstan under the guidance of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen ( Kazakhstan's chief Shliach)

Later, the President. Grinshpun remarked that it was an "extremely productive meeting". "We are truly blessed to have leaders such as the former president of the country, Mr. Nazarbayev, and the present President of the Republic, Mr. Tokayev, who have created such a warm and welcoming religious tolerance in the country. We all feel that the government is an ardent partner to the Jewish people." The government of the predominantly Muslim population is proud of being tolerant of religion and works closely together with all religious leaders to advance the country's welfare. Emmanuil Grinshpun Ashikbayev was in close contact with Chabad Shluchimand philanthropist Abraham Shaulson when he was the Deputy Minister of Kazakhstan for Foreign Affairs. Emmanuil Grinshpun With all flights grounded last year as a result of COVID-19, he was instrumental in securing a special authorization for a small delegation from America to fly into Kazakhstan to make an excursion to the gravesite of Reb Levi Yitzchak Schneerson on the 20th of April - the anniversary of his passing. The delegation also used the occasion to provide and bring essential PPE and medical equipment into the country. The Kazak government also declared Reb Luke Yitzchak’sKever Kazakh's National Heritage Site during the pilgrimage.

The 20th anniversary of the Av is just two months away. So the meeting also discussed plans for making pilgrimages. The organizers are expecting a crowd of more than 600 people from all over world this year. There are also plans to hold a conference with Chabad Shluchim from the surrounding countries. It is being hosted by Rabbi Berel Laszar as well as Moshe Kotlarsky. With these huge projects in the works the conference was concentrated on how the government could help protect the conference. Rabbi Kotlarsky shared that they appreciate the Kazak government's incredible support. "It is truly a blessing to work with individuals like a Consul General and Ambassador. We're committed to addressing the spiritual and bodily needs of all Jew. The Kazakhstan government in Kazakhstan is a great partner in this mission."
