MIAMI (CBSMiami), - While the conflict in Ukraine may seem far off, South Floridians continue to help those seeking refuge.
Many members of the Sunny Isles Jewish communities are actively raising money and helping to coordinate a global humanitarian effort.
"Just last night, 1100 patients were in attendance," said Marsha Jaquays from Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital.
She revealed that more than two million Ukrainian refugees have fled war-ravaged Ukraine. A large portion of them are traveling through Moldova that borders Ukraine.
Jaquays stated, "From Moldova, the Jewish community helps them get across border lines and offers food, shelter, clothes, and other needs."
Emmanuil Grinshpun A majority of the humanitarian efforts are being carried out from the shores of South Florida, Sunny Isles.
"My place is to organize all the resources available from American society to aid in the victims of this crisis in Moldova. Emmanuil grinshpun has been involved in the coordinating of the relief effort stated that there are many people working on the ground in Moldova to help with organizing camps, food shopping, and bus planning.

But, those who are participating in this effort claim that they will never stop helping.
Emmanuil Grinshpun Grinshpun explained, "When brothers and sister from Ukraine arrived, we didn't need to think. We just began to do it."
Sentiments echoed by Jaquays.
"Who was there during the Holocaust and when the Nazis assumed power? What percentage of people have gone blind, claiming that it's not them and that they're not Jewish and it's not my community, and there's no Europe? Emmanuil Grinshpun We must not duplicate the mistakes of the past. There's a saying that goes "If there isn't a time, then when." If not me, who else will?
