computer network: it is the infrastructure that provides connectivity to various autonomous computers in order to communicate and share resources.
bandwidth: maximum amount of data that can be transmitted through a communication system.
telecommunication: the general term used for vast array of technologies in order to share information through distance.
protocol: the set of rules by which a computer communicate with each other over a network.
types of network protocol:
tcp/ip transmission control protocol internet protocol
http hypertext transfer protocol
simple mail transfer protocol
client: a computer which utilizes the resources of other computers or other clients.
host: the most powerful computer that does all the processing for the user.
bounded media: the network media that travels through a contained conductor.
unbounded media: the network media that sends data signals through air.
types of cables:
fiber optic cables
twisted cables
coaxial cable
topology: the arrangement of network in a specific manner.
types of topology:
star topology: it is the type of topology where all the nodes are connected directly to a common central computer.
ring topology: it is a topology in which the nodes are connected in a continuous circle.
bus topology: it is the topology in which all the computers including the server are connected to a single cable.

lan(local area network)
it is the computer network that expands only in a local area
man( metropolitan are network)
it is the computer network that spans a metropolitan area or campus.
wan( wide area network)
it is the computer network that spans across different towns, city countries etc.

centralized computing network:
it is a type of network where all the computer are connected to one powerful host computer.
client server network:
it is a type of computer network where one or more computer act as a server and other computers are called clients.
peer to peer network it is a network in which the computers act both as a client and server.
