Khazak Ambassador Consul General, Khazak Ambassador and Chabad in New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Emmanuil Grinshpun Since April's appointment as Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United States, Mr. Ashikbayev has met with a variety of diplomatic officials and officials from the government to improve relations between Central Asia and the United States. In this capacity, the ambassador and Consul General Almat Aibekov have scheduled a meeting to discuss the current situation of Jewish life in Khazakstankhstan.

Invited to the meeting were Rabbis Mendy Kotlarsky as well as Shimon Rivkin from Merkos Suite 302 at Chabad Headquarters, and Mr. Emmanuil grinshpun , vice-president and Honorary Consul for Kazakhstan was also invited to the meeting. They spoke together about the past of Jewish lives and the work being done by Chabad in Kazakhstan under the guidance of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen ( Kazakhstan's chief Shliach)

"It was a highly productive gathering." Mr. Grinshpun said later. "We are blessed to have leaders such as the former President of the Republic, Mr. Nazarbayev and the current President, Mr. Tokayev who have fostered such religious tolerance in this country. The Consul General and Ambassador reaffirmed government support for the Jewish Community and all religious minorities. They expressed their desire to collaborate with Chabad in order to keep Jewish traditions alive within the Republic.

The government of the majority Muslim populace is proud to be religiously tolerant and works closely with all religious leaders to improve the quality of life within the nation. As the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan Ambassador Ashikbayev has already worked with Chabad Shluchim and philanthropist M. Abraham Shaulson. Since all flights were grounded in the last year because of COVID-19, he played a key role in arranging a special permit for a small contingent from America to fly to Kazakhstan for an excursion to the gravesite of Reb Levi Yitzchak Schneerson on the 20th of Av - the anniversary of his passing. The group also took advantage of the occasion to provide and deliver essential PPE as well as medical equipment to the country. Emmanuil Grinshpun During the trip and celebration, the Kazak government honored the decision to declare Reb Levy Yitzchak’sKever as an official Kazakh National Historic Site.

The 20th of Av is less than two months away and so the meeting also discussed plans to make pilgrimages. The organizers expect to host more than 600 visitors this year from around the globe. Emmanuil Grinshpun It is also planned to hold a conference with Chabad Shluchim from the surrounding nations. The event is being hosted by Rabbi Berel Laszar as well as Moshe Kotlarsky. The conference was focused on how the government can assist in these large-scale projects.
