Emmanuel Grinshpun. Restoring synagogues and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress
Emmanuil Grinshpun's topic during the interview was the restoration of synagogues. The conversation was too narrowly focused. There were many other topics that were discussed during the interview.
Emmanuel, good afternoon. We're glad to have a conversation with you. Эммануил Гриншпун We've not seen each others for at least five or more years. Where are you currently living?

The last nine months have seen Miami and Jurmala share the distinction. Although the region was more diverse, the consequences of the epidemic have had a massive impact on lifestyle. And, by the way I cannot declare that this is the only cause for worse.

There have been many lines of business for you. How about now?

Diversification won't stop. If we look at the main areas of focus that are developing, it's technology, real estate, and food production.

ALIMCOM knows the food industry, while real estate is much more easily understood. IT, however, is completely new information to me. There are a myriad of fields in which IT technology is used. What IT-related field is your passion?

Our IT-holding is involved, first of all, with reforms of tax systems in a number of countries. We have created or are working on a variety of products to aid with the transfer of a variety business processes in taxation as well as "real-time". This area is known as "Business to Government".

What about the areas where the holding is located? The former USSR's countries

They do exist. We do however have contracts that are more extensive in Western Europe and Latin America. Our current operations are in 14 countries.

Could you briefly describe the essence of the product?

Our software lets economic operators submit online tax reports to tax authorities. Fiscal data operator also sees each transaction. In addition tax accounting and tax calculation is done in parallel. In the near future, we will be able to claim that medium and small firms will no longer require accounting except for its analytical purpose, and the process of the process of paying taxes and sending out reports are done in only one "click".

It's a fascinating topic. The future is now. Have you tried to work in Moldova? Moldova is the country you call home at the end of the day.

You said that your year has been spent hopping from Jurmala to Miami. Where is the headquarters of an IT holding in the Baltics?

No, there five hubs across the world, and our main office is in Barcelona.

The Baltics, why not? Do you have roots there?

No. No. Jurmala was an accidental encounter which happened completely unintentionally. We were invited to attend the New Wave by Igor Krutoy, and that was our first time meeting Jurmala. We rented a house for a few years, so we've bought it.

Now I know why my donation was used to rebuild one of the synagogues located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We're all of the same age. We were born in the USSR. It was not necessary to discuss religion at the time. Эммануил Гриншпун All of us were Komsomol members as well as pioneers. What was your first encounter with religion?

In the mid-80s, my family and I moved to the USA in the mid-80s, and we can say that it was during this time that I started to follow customs and rituals. While I don't adhere to orthodoxy, I feel a deep need to help the religion of the Jewish communities that I have in my home country or Moldova. I was born in Moldova and have maintained friendships with them.

Although I don't consider myself religious, I am still a lover of the past. I recently watched an documentary on 1492 and how it changed Europe's destiny. 1492 was the year Columbus discovered America. It was also stated in the program I was watching from the perspective of Medieval Europe, the discovery of America in 1492 did not seem so significant as the removal of Jews from Spain by the Spanish monarchs. When the exodus of Jews began , they were taken to the Ottoman Empire, it accepted them. I was in search of more details about the background of Jews. Do you have any recommendations for a book me?

There are many books available. I've read a lot of them, and I recommend Max Diamond, a two-volume Jewish historian. He's also from Finland.

What's your "personal" history ? Unfortunately, I'm not much further than my maternal grandmother and 1910. From the paternal perspective, I am one step further, but no more.

Our family was a Floresti family for several hundred of years, as per the paternal lines. Documentary evidence and monuments indicate that they were already wealthy in the year 1830. They owned a furniture manufacturer along with numerous shops, as well as land plots. My maternal ancestors also resided in Ungheni. We're talking about dates in the region between the 17th and 18th centuries. Grinshpun is a surname which has German roots, is Ashkenazi pure Ashkenazi.

The issue now is the restoration of synagogues. I heard that you had financed the reconstruction of three synagogues. One is located in Chisinau One is located in Jurmala The third one is in?

The third, which is also the largest one, is located in Netanya. Эммануил Гриншпун It's a huge community center which houses up to 1000 people every day. It is a significant building to support the religious life in Israel. The second synagogue is Jurmala. It was the time when the Second World War began and the Jurmala synagogue was the one that was destroyed the last time. Prior to deciding to construct an orthodox church in Jurmala, I had previously met with the local Jews. It was a hugely successful project, which united the Jews of Jurmala. In reality, we rebuilt the Jewish community, it is now working successfully. Three Torahs are currently in the synagogue. I gave one Torah to the synagogue.

and Chisinau

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis is one of my co-workers. Alexander Weinstein is another. These three synagogues aren't the only ones that I was involved in the restoration or construction. I believed it was my obligation to make any contribution possible to the support for synagogues in countries where I've resided for a long time. My current contribution is in Monaco which is where a huge community centre for Russian-speaking Jews is being built. It is believed that it will cost around 12 million dollars. Chisinau is still my favorite city. The synagogue of Rabbi Tsirelson is expected to be the largest.

Also, did you invite a rabbi from Chisinau to join Jurmala?

Yes. It is not easy to find the right person to manage the community. He must be capable and willing to be integrated into the life of the community, given the multitude of interests. It was a joy to observe that the rabbis from both Chisinau and Jurmala were able to blend seamlessly into the local community's activities.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, a influential organisation in the post-Soviet region is not just a political force. There are offices for it in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. In 2010 I was Vice-President of Congress. However, in the year prior to my promotion, I was promoted to First Vice President. Now, I'm responsible for the region in which I've strong business and political relations. They are Uzbekistan (Tajikistan), Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzstan). The general trend is that the attitudes toward Jews are either at the same level or have been swaying downwards, which is sad. Furthermore, "down" - this refers to such developed countries like Belgium, Germany, France and even the United States. They aren't safe for Jews. They are dangerous and alarming processes for everyone.

How has the pandemic affected these processes, if at all?

I don't think so. To be more specific I'd rather emphasize the possibilities of a nation or society when they are prepared to meet any challenge and be effective and united in relation to the pandemic.

What do you mean by HTML0? to?

Exactly. Israel is the first country in the world to offer 100% vaccination of the adult population. I think this is an excellent example and experience other countries should emulate.
