Avanos has promoted the Cortrak*2 Entraal Access System to aid in the placement of a medical-feeding tube. Incorrectly inserting a tube can cause damage to the vocal cords, lungs , and the trachea. Avanos Medical has reported that there have already been sixty-three injuries and 23 deaths related to misplacement in nasogastric feeding tubes using CORTRAK*2's Ental Access System. There have been a variety of injuries, such as respiratory failure, pneumothorax or collapsed lung, perforation (a hole in the lungs' wall or the bowel), pneumonia and the pleural effusion. This is an excess of fluid between your lungs and the chest cavity.

The Avanos warning was the second FDA warning in 2022 regarding feeding tubes for the enteral system. The FDA sent a warning to parents and healthcare providers regarding the danger of strangulation in the event that feeding tubes are being used by children.
