As opposed to other video games, Minecraft allows you to be in control of the game, and it even allows players to act as moderators, and to build their own modding/coding directly into the game!

2. To create a new game, click the Create New World button.

3. In the World Name text box, enter the name you like and then click the Create New World button at the bottom of the screen.
Game cheats increase or reduce the difficulty of your game. They switch between Creative mode (or Adventure mode) when you enable them. Cheats allow you to have more control over the game's environment particularly when you're just beginning.
After you have created your world, the game begins by creating the environment and putting your avatar (character) within it.
Selecting the appropriate game mode in Minecraft
Survival - After being randomly created in a new environment players must try to survive by gathering material and shelter, gaining experience, and fighting off hostile mobs. Creative - a mode of play that allows players immediate access to nearly all items and blocks are immune to death, and have the ability to fly. The purpose of this game mode is to create unique worlds. Adventure is when players interact with objects (levers and buttons) and mobs in order to complete an adventure. Spectator is invisible to everything and cannot interact with entities, blocks or your inventory. This mode is typically used to watch the worlds created by other players. Hardcore - similar to survival mode, Hardcore is set to the "hard" difficulty level for the duration of the game and players cannot respawn; once you die, the map is deleted (or you permanently become a spectator).
