This year I completed my Undergraduate studies and completed my degree with a distinction in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh.
Unfortunately, McEwan hall was closed for refurbishment so I didn't finish my degree. The only time I've been able to appreciate McEwan was during my second year Probability exam. It wasn't a very good time to be gazing at the artwork on the ceiling.
As a surrogate we used Usher hall, the venue for the majority of symphony as well as chamber music events are held in.
Given how small the Informatics class is, we got mixed in with the school of Engineering. We were awarded two honorary degree speeches in the process. I'm not sure what the engineering guy did. The Computer Science speaker got the deal to develop minecraft for the X-box.
I guess that's vaguely interesting.
One of the distinctive things about the University of Edinburgh is that we don’t wear a mortarboard cap. Instead, all graduates wear the same hat. The vice-chancellor taps each graduate on the head as they walk across the stage.
Fun fact: Piers Sellers offered the hat to be carried into space. Spaceships can explode, so the hat was crucial. A university emblem was sent to space and embroidered onto the hat.

I was booed on my head with the space-hat.
I was able purchase enough tickets for my grandparents and parents. My family visited just a few weeks prior and we walked together across Ireland and the highlands.
Jammy got a free-morning and I had one more ticket. As a result, I was able to secure Jam-Jam, father of polar bears, first of his name, to come to my graduation.
