The latest install-at-your-own-risk Minecraft update (snapshot "12w34a") is now available over at the official Mojang blog. Once installed, many fundamental changes are made to ways that nether portals and maps operate. Additionally, you will receive new items and things to make with said items. This is probably the most amazing creature you've ever seen.
It's been dubbed the "Wither Boss," this new baddie is a three-headed floating skeleton with a torso that shoots explosions of skulls from each head. Although it doesn't appear that the creature is actually in the game but the files are available and can be hacked in the event of death wishes (as Sethbling demonstrated).

This update also includes carrots and potatoes. The former is a reagent to bake potatoes, while the latter is an important ingredient for invisibility potions. The potion will make you invisible to any mob around you, but it will not alter your armor or other items. It is not advisable to splash a baked potato over your own head.
