Minecraft players will be able to change their in-game name soon, developer studio Mojang has announced. The process will go live on February 4th, and is fairly easy. Once the name-changing feature is implemented, players will be able to change their names in the game by login to their account. Any name that isn't being used by another player will still be available. MC NAME However, players will need to wait for 30 days before they can change their name again.
There's no need to be concerned about someone else taking your name. It takes about 37 days for an older name to become available to someone. If you wanted to change your name to "MinecraftMasta" you wouldn't have the ability to use MinecraftMasta before you could take it back. You aren't able to change your inventory or character by changing your name. If someone blocks you in any way, you won't be able to override that block.
Mojang also announced that to date, Minecraft: Pocket Edition has sold a combined total of more than 30 million copies. Pocket Edition sold 21 million copies in April, and was extended to Windows Phone users in December. Mojang didn't share the number of new sales, but Mojang did announce that Pocket Edition had sold 9 million more copies thanks to its release on a new platform. [Image: Mojang]
