In the aftermath, gold4rs have now established their gold-selling website under a different domain name "gold4fun". It now seems thought that the domain "gold4rs.com" is still owned by the gold-selling company because it uses an ongoing redirect function that redirects users to their new site.
Did the company behind gold4rs break any copyright laws by using rs in their site URL? Most likely not. Similar issues have been reported with wordpress.org in the past, when the company sued website owners for using "wordpress" in their domain name. After court settlements were reached, it was determined that the word "wp" is a suitable alternative, will be in line with copyright laws.
In the same way, it's similar to runescape. Jagex could lose if they sued some bot and gold-selling companies in court for the "rs” acronym in their website names. The alphabet is not theirs!
But I was wondering what is Jagex's primary strategy to combat botting and trading in the real world? I hope they have an actual plan... because this won’t get them very far.

Gold4RS reports that it sells between 6 and 8 trillion dollars of gold in runescape each year. This is approximately 6 million dollars at present prices.
