Minecraft streamer and content creator Technoblade has passed away following an extended battle with stage four cancer His family announced his death today in a statement and video.
Techno had previously announced that he was diagnosed with cancer in August. Techno has been updating his community periodically about his diagnosis, and is continuing to receive treatment and create content on YouTube.
Techno's father, Techno, narrates a final posthumous message titled "so long geeks" that was written for the occasion. It was filled to brim with the creator's signature dry and often dark humor, but also acts as one final 'thank you' to everyone who has backed the Minecraft star over the years.
"Thank you for supporting my content throughout the years. Technoblade would be my choice should I have another 100 lives. Because those were the most happy years of my life." Techno said.
"I hope you enjoyed my writing and that I made some of you laugh. I am so grateful for you and wish you the best for a long, happy and prosperous life. Technoblade is out
In his message Techno, who reveals his name is actually Alex, talks about how the proceeds from merchandise and other "sell-out" pushes in the past year is being used to send his children to college, if they choose to go. He also talks about thanking his audience for allowing him to enjoy such joyful moments. His father, who was present to hear Techno's final message explains that he had originally planned to make and write the video prior to his death. However Techno's declining health as well as other issues kept him from doing so. According to his father who wrote the message, he did so from his bed and passed away within eight hours of his death.
Technoblade's father told him that he was "the most wonderful child that anyone could ever ask for." "I am missing Technoblade. Thank you to everyone for everything.
