ExpressVPN Review: Fast Speed and Security make it Absolutely Worth the Price

This is exactly what I observed when I was testing ExpressVPN(opens in a new tab).



Registration for ExpressVPN was easy and the installation process was even simpler. After receiving the email, I downloaded the application and then set it up in the background while I was doing other things on my computer. It was so easy that I didn't even need to think about it. I then finished what I was doing online and turned on the VPN on to explore more.



It was at that point that I remembered I had started it before.



We tried ExpressVPN and found it to be reliable in all of these areas making it one of the best VPNs on the market. It isn't exactly replete with options for customizing your actual experience; for that, you'll need NordVPN. It does everything most people would want by default. And if you need help, the support team is quick to respond.



It's as easy as TV dinners



I've never understood the expression "easy as pie." Pies can get rather complicated If you're making your own crust? Forget about it. This VPN is as simple to use as using the microwave to warm a frozen meal. You can play with the protocols and configure it to connect automatically. However, you can also just start it up and let it work.



The buttons to choose your server as well as the "power" button are both prominently displayed. Certain devices, like Android, Windows, or MacOS, let you create shortcuts directly from your home screen.



Split tunneling and network lock are the other options that you can use. They are well-organized and it won't be difficult to locate the information you require. You can also test them without confusion if know what they are.

Technically speaking, I did get Speedtest results that showed a drop in speeds compared to my normal connection. However the numbers don't tell the whole story. Websites loaded at the same speed in both directions, and HD video was able to be viewed without buffering or pausing.



I noticed that the recommended settings do a decent job of delivering the best experience. I tried experimenting with the location and the protocol, but I never got faster Speedtest results than when I left them both at their default settings. These numbers aren't ideal, but they're good indicators to keep to refer to.



Most things are unblockable



One of the main reasons why a lot of people use VPNs is to access content that's not available in their region. I actually used to think that Netflix US had the full catalogue, but after conducting these tests, I discovered that some of my favorite shows are available on Netflix UK while they aren't available here. The danger of this knowledge aside, a VPN is a great tool for opening up the internet.



To make things more complicated, some streaming platforms (hello again, Netflix) have implemented software to detect when you're connected via a VPN. Providers who advertise that they allow users through geoblocks can also make use of this feature to navigate.



ExpressVPN isn't perfect however it does a decent job in this area. There was a case where I attempted to stream Netflix while connected, but it was able to tell that I was using a VPN and the library was not available. After trying several servers and looking around I found that other users were experiencing the same issue. I read that someone had contacted support, and was informed that they had been aware of it and were working on a fix.



Sure enough, I tried again the next day and everything was working just as usual. I also experienced the same issue with BBC iPlayer. Since there was not much discussion about it, my own interaction with customer support was necessary. I was promptly contacted. Before we were able to finish the conversation, I tried to access it, and it was up and running.



A strong contender



My only issue is that it's at the top of the cost spectrum however I think it's effective enough to justify the price. The annual plan is the best option to save money and it did everything I needed. You can also claim your money back if you don't love it after trying it.
