Xbox has partnered with preservation society National Trust (opens in new tab) as well as a group of British creatives to create a Minecraft model of Corfe Castle. The intricate impressive model was commissioned by Xbox UK as part of the National Trust's festival of archaeology which encourages people to design "their own version of the castle using the foundations."
Grian who is a YouTube video maker, has created this first build. You can watch his work in the video above as well as on YouTube. (opens in the new tab) Grian created a build that highlights Corfe Castle's most striking features, such as its historical octagonal tower, miniature palace, and "Gloriette". It's a medieval Kingly version I believe, of the Victorian folly.
"Grian has done an outstanding job in restoring Corfe Castle back to its former splendor. He not only accomplished an exact replica of the various historical styles within the castle grounds but he also incorporated it into his own creativity. Martin Papworth, an archaeologist with the National Trust, said that we cannot wait to see more creative designs from the next generation of young minds."
You can download Corfe's ruins yourself by checking out the Minecraft server corfe.ruinsreimagined.com. The ruin can also be downloaded as a package for Minecraft: Education Edition to be used in classrooms. Microsoft's website contains more information. (opens in a new tab)
