It's a significant change in the method Minecraft is built, and that's why Mojang decided to do it in a different way. This, unlike normal testing, isn't an actual Snapshot that you download from the launcher. Instead, if you go to their blog post explaining the program, it will give you some guidelines and the download link.
It's possible for things to change, but here's the difference:
- New world height and depth New mountain biomes (lofty peaks or snowcapped peaks, meadow, and snowy slopes) - New cave generation (cheese, spaghetti, and noodles caves) - Local water levels and lava levels in the underground new cave biomes create naturally underground and within mountains (lush caves and dripstone caves) - Natural variation in the shape of terrain and elevation, independent of biomes. For example forests and deserts can form up on a hill without the need for a special biome just for that.
