The Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft will be available in August for $20, Mojang announced today. The game will cost $5 on Xbox One and PS4 for gamers who own Minecraft on Xbox 360 and PS3. Cross-buy title Vita edition, which means that when you already own Minecraft for PS3 or Xbox 360, you can get it on Vita without cost. All PS3 DLC will work with the Vita version, though not all skins and texture packs work on PS4 or Xbox One versions, due to licensing deals.
Minecraft: Xbox One and PS4 editions have more worlds than the current generation versions, and both allow users to import save data from Xbox 360 and PS3 + Vita games and PS3 + Vita games, respectively. However, saves cannot be transferred from next-gen to current generation systems.
"There are technical reasons for this. just another blog or something We can create worlds that are bigger without too much stress, but reducing them causes all kinds of problems," Mojang says.
