Want to get Minecraft working easily on Steam Deck or a normal Linux desktop without much fuss? This is one method to accomplish this, and it's very easy. For this , I chose the PolyMC launcher (a variant of MultiMC) available on Flathub, as the current official Minecraft launcher Flatpak doesn't save your password on Steam Deck and PolyMC of course, supports modding as well.

Text steps:
- Install PolyMC through the Discover Software Centre on Steam Deck or Flathub directly for desktop Linux. - Launch PolyMC and add your account to the upper right corner of. It supports Mojang logins and Microsoft logins. - Open the main PolyMC Settings and click Minecraft in the left pane. Select the option to close PolyMC when the game window opens. If you don't, the Steam Deck will switch between the two windows when you launch the Game Mode/ Deck UI. Make sure that Java is updated in PolyMC Settings. This is necessary for the latest Minecraft. - Click Add Instance in the top left, then choose normal Minecraft or locate mods using the built-in search function and it installs everything to get started. To start Steam directly, visit the Games menu at the top and select Add a Non-Steam Game. Then, you will find PolyMC in the list.
Minecraft online
Some YouTube comments suggested that you try the optimized modpacks. However, I didn't notice a significant difference in performance or power consumption that would justify them on the Deck when testing the same map seed. Although controller mods are available, they are not often updated and only work with certain Minecraft versions. Therefore, I suggest sticking to Steam Input and adjusting a few keys.
