Dark was the night. The only sound that could be heard was the whistling of the wind as it swept through the leaves of the willow trees. Hundreds of these woody perennial plants surrounded the foggy clearing in which a dark figure paced.
Only the silhouette revealed that this figure was a man.
He didn't jump when an owl screeched in the distance. Neither when a wolf howl echoes through the woods. He only did react when a rustle of leaves could be heard. A shudder. So small it was almost unnoticeable.
'Hook, dear, what are you afraid of?' A silky voice whispered behind him. A hand wrapped around his waist. 'It's just your dear queenie...'
His face contorted but he quickly changed it to a smile.
'I'm not afraid my love.' He laughed nervously. His voice was strong, and not unlike a snake's hiss.
'Good.'
He turned slowly and dropped to his knee in a bow. Gripping her hand, he placed a kiss on her cold knuckles as she chuckled.
'Hook, do stand up.'
He obeyed almost instantly and shivered as he noticed the trail of ice that followed the strange woman.
The strange woman... or as most know her...
The Snow Queen.

CHAPTER 1
I stare at it, slightly disappointed. How could the headmistress have given me such a- a-

Wait a moment. Let me start from the beginning.
My name is Millie. Millie Castillo.
I'm a fairy. I know what you're thinking: fairy. Small, fluttery, Tinkerbell style.
Yes, Tinkerbell was real, but she was a PIXIE, not a fairy. Gosh, it's not hard to tell the difference. Fairies are like humans, but our fairy wings show when we gain huge power, or when we're in terrible danger.
And, as I've clearly told you, fairies are real.
So are elves, dwarves, dragons, unicorns, and a bunch more I couldn't possibly put on paper. Speaking of magic, I go to this awesome school of magic, where I've just graduated from an infant to a junior; I'm 2032 years old. In YOUR years. In fairy years, I'm simply 16. Every graduated fairy gets a pet from the school.
See where this is going?
Anyway, every fairy gets a pet. I got-

A unicorn.
You must be thinking, WOW! A unicorn! I thought so too when they told me what a great animal I'd get. Unfortunately, it's not what I expected.
Instead of being white as snow, it's coat's as black as night: the sign of a dark fairy. It's horn's silver, the opposite of the gold horn a good fairy's unicorn has.

Creature?
The unicorn trots up to me, nuzzling my hand.
'Sugar?' It says in my head.
Great. It's connected with me.
Slowly, the creature steps back and studies me with it's silver, moon-light coloured eyes.
'You don't want me.' He speaks quietly.
'No! It's just that...' I begin.
'You're embarrassed. You don't want the other fairies to see me because you think I'm evil.'
'You're right.' I admit. 'I'm being selfish. Well... I might as well name you.'
I think about it.
'How about... Ebony?'
