Article content HARTFORD, Conn. - The creator of a school shooting video game condemned by the parents of children killed in school has been unable to sell its products on the internet after being disqualified by PayPal.
Acid Software stated Tuesday that "Active Shooter" purchases were "temporarily disabled" as its representatives tried to resolve the PayPal issues. Acid's postings on Twitter and an online bulletin board included the hashtags "QuitCensoringUs," "FreedomOfExpression" and "WeWillBeBack."

Content of the article "PayPal has an accepted usage policy that is clearly defined that is consistently enforced and has been in place for a long time. We work to ensure that our services do not allow payments for violence promotion activities to be accepted," the company, which is based in San Jose California, stated Wednesday.
"Active Shooter" is branded as a "SWAT simulator" that lets players choose between being an active shooter terrorizing a school or the SWAT team that responds to the shooting. The screen shows the death tolls of police and civilians, and also the options for grenades, weapons, and knives. Acid sold an early version of the game on the internet for $20. The company plans to launch a new version within the next month.

After the game was taken down by Indiegogo and video game marketplace Steam Content from articles Acid created two websites for Active Shooter. The removals were prompted by online petitions and complaints from anti-gun violence activists including parents of children who lost children in school shootings in Parkland (Florida) in which 17 students and teachers were killed in February.
A company hosting the new websites was forced to shut them down this week after receiving similar complaints. But Acid got the sites back up and running after switching to Russian servers, according to an Acid representative, Ata Berdyev, of Seattle.
Anton Makarevskiy (21-year-old Russian developer) developed "Active Shooter". Acid Software is marketing it. Berdyev is helping Makarevskiy promote the game.
The statement from Wednesday by Berdyev stated that the future of the game may be in doubt.
Berdyev wrote in a message to The Associated Press, "Seems like everybody in the US trying to censor and while not defining the exact nature of what we are doing."
