Mojang's sandbox build-'em-up Minecraft remains a cult choice on the Xbox 360, surpassing 12 million units sold as of this month.
"It's quite amazing!" minecraft servers Mojang's Daniel Kaplan stated in response to the latest sales milestone. "I remember when we began discussing sales numbers, I thought we would be super happy to sell one million copies. This would put us on par [Battlefield 1943] or Castle Crashers, both of which are excellent games, so it was something we could try to achieve. We had never thought of selling 12,000,000!
In December 2012, Minecraft sold over 10 million copies. Mojang and 4J Studios, the development partner, will continue to update Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition in the coming months with new content. This includes the Candy Texture Pack which will launch on April 18.
