'Minecraft' Studio Wants nothing to be Associated With NFTs

Don't be expecting to purchase a creeper skin as an NFT (non-fungible token) and then connect it to your Minecraft server in the near future. Mojang has taken a strong stance against the popular game's use of NFTs and blockchain technology. It stated that each of these applications of NFTs or other blockchain technologies creates a digital owner based on scarcity and exclusion, which is not in line with Minecraft values of creative inclusion. While Minecraft server owners are able to charge for access, Mojang rules state that everyone should have access the same functionality and content. The studio said that NFTs can create exclusion and scarcity models that are inconsistent with our guidelines and spirit Minecraft.



Mojang also expressed concern about the uncertain nature of NFTs and noted that some have been sold at "artificially or fraudulently inflated prices."
